Anyone involved in the mobile industry will almost certainly be familiar with the Mobile Virtual Network Operator(MVNO). By buying mobile network and infrastructure services from established wireless operators and reselling the service under their own brand names, MVNOs have developed a business model which has already demonstrated tremendous growth potential. With approximately 200 planned and operational MVNOs worldwide, the MVNO appears to have emerged and become firmly established as a clear choice for capturing the attention of mobile consumers. With activity within the MVNO space set to increase further still, 2006 looks set to be the year when MVNOs will significantly impact the structure of the mobile market as we know it.
